Digital accessibility

University of Bialystok undertakes to ensure the availability of its website in accordance with the provisions of the Act of 4 April 2019 on digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public entities. Digital accessibility declaration applies to the University of Bialystok Internet service and University of Bialystok Bulletin of Public Information (BiP)

The website and BiP partially comply with the Act on digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public entities due to inconsistencies or exclusions listed below:

The websites contain videos with no subtitles added for deaf and hard-of-hearing people. The subtitles are successively added to older videos.

Everyone has the right to request the digital availability of the website, mobile app or any of their elements. You can also request sharing information by alternative access method, e.g. by reading a digitally unavailable document, describing film content without audio description, etc. The request should contain the data of the person making the request, specification of the website or mobile app and method of contact. If the person making the request reports the need to obtain information using an alternative access method, they should also determine the form of such information.

The public entity shall fulfil the request immediately, not later than within 7 days. Should it not be possible to comply with the deadline, the public entity shall immediately inform about it, whereby the new deadline cannot be longer than 2 months. Should it not be possible to provide availability, the public entity may offer an alternative method of access to information.

If the public entity refuses to fulfil the request to provide availability or alternative method of access to information, one can lodge a complaint thereon.

Once the above procedure has been exhausted, a complaint may also be submitted to the Ombudsman (Commissioner for Human Rights).


Architectural accessibility

Uniwersytet w Białymstoku, Rektorat, ul. Świerkowa 20B, 15-328 Białystok.

There are two entrances to the building: from Świerkowa street (entrance A) and from Prosta street (entrance B). There are stairs to both of them. Near the stairs to the front entrance from Świerkowa street (A) there is a wheelchair lift.

Visitors should use the entrance from Świerkowa street (A). There are no changes in level at the entrance to the building. In front of the entrance to the building there is variable texture in the form of indoor mats. In the vestibule, the minimum wheelchair manoeuvring space is 150 x 150 cm.

The reception is located on the right side of the entrance from Świerkowa street (A).

There is a lift in the building. It is equipped with a handrail and a mirror in front of the wall with the internal control panel. The cabin is well-lit. The internal control panel is equipped with tactile information in Braille. The lift is also equipped with the sound signalling system informing about the cabin’s arrival and location (the number of the floor).

There are three storeys in the building. There are no thresholds on individual storeys. Traffic routes are sufficiently wide facilitating two-way movement. Corridor equipment does not impede movement. There are relaxation areas in the corridors.

There are toilets adapted for the disabled on every floor. Toilet doors are marked with the pictogram.

One parking space for the disabled has been designated in front of the building.

The building and all its premises can be entered with an assistance dog and a guide dog.
